Littmann Cardiology III stethoscope
The Littmann Cardiology III stethoscope is characterized by exceptional versatility and represents one of the most recent innovations in auscultation technology.

The two patented floating membranes allow the detection of low and high frequencies with both sides of the head. For the detection of low frequencies, it is sufficient to exert a slight pressure on the head, while for high ones a firm pressure.

The side with the larger diameter can be used for auscultation on adult patients, while the side with the smaller diameter can be especially useful for pediatric use or with particularly thin patients. Furthermore, the pediatric side of the head can easily be converted into a traditional bell, replacing it with the bell-shaped membrane, not cold on contact, included in every stethoscope. Latex free.

Patented floating membrane

The special patented floating membrane ensures versatility and high acoustic quality to the instrument. The floating membrane allows to detect both low frequencies (bell mode) and high frequencies (diaphragm mode) without having to rotate the head. To change from one mode to another, simply change the pressure applied to the head.

Bell mode (low frequencies)

For the detection of low frequencies it is sufficient to exert a slight pressure on the head. The membrane, mounted on a flexible ring, is thus left free to move and to detect low frequencies.

 Aperture mode (high frequencies)

Apply high pressure to the head to detect high frequency sounds. By pressing the head on the skin, the membrane is pushed against the inner surface of the head. In this way the movements of the membrane are limited: this blocks or attenuates the reception of low-frequency sounds, making it possible to listen to high-frequency sounds.

 Cleaning and maintenance

Your Littmann has been designed to guarantee you a reliable tool over time. Periodic cleaning of the instrument helps maintain the characteristics of the instrument over time.

 Instructions for cleaning the instrument

• Do not immerse your stethoscope in any liquid or sterilize it in any way. If it is necessary to disinfect it, use a cloth dampened with a solution of 70% isopropyl alcohol

• Do not subject the instrument to extreme hot and cold conditions, avoid contact with solvents and oils

• The toggles can be removed from the cleaning bow

Maintenance

The tubes of Littmann stethoscopes are made of PVC (polyvinyl chloride): PVC tends to harden if exposed for prolonged periods of contact with skin fats. If the stethoscope is kept around the neck, the hardening of the tube can occur over time: it is therefore recommended not to keep it in direct contact with the skin, for example by holding it over the collar.
